My photo is 8MB — can it really fit under 1MB?
Yes. Most 8–12MB phone photos compress under 1MB with little visible difference at normal viewing sizes, because much of that size is redundant detail.
Does it keep the original resolution?
Usually yes. We try to hit 1MB by lowering quality first and only reduce dimensions if the file still won't fit.
